The Sims 4 Get Famous Announced!

Hello everyone! Simmers received some exciting news from EA/Maxis this morning with the announcement of a brand-new upcoming expansion pack for The Sims 4 called The Sims 4 Get Famous. It looks like this will be The Sims 4’s version of Superstar from The Sims 1 and Showtime from The Sims 3.

Not much is known about the expansion yet except that there will be a new world to explore as well as a new career (actor) that your Sims can join. As for how this expansion will affect the Legacy Challenge rules, we don’t know the exact details yet, but I will be making sure to keep you posted with a variety of posts over the next few weeks.

This newest expansion will release on November 16th. You can preorder it on the Sims website.

Introducing the Legacy House Build Project!

Hi everyone! I mentioned last week that I was starting to work on a Legacy House Build Project for people that enjoy playing the Legacy Challenge (or other similar challenges) for the Sims 4 but don’t like building houses. I am going through and building houses for various stages of the Legacy Challenge. There will be lawn living lots, early starters, later starters, mid-range houses, and mansions. I’ll also be building houses that will help your Sims skill up certain skills faster.

I currently have three houses available for download on the Gallery. None require packs at the moment (I will make sure to note if future houses need packs). You can check them out on the Legacy House Builds page.

This page has been linked under both “Sims 4 Legacy Challenge Rules” and “House Builds & Tours” on the menu of this website for easy access!

More houses to come soon!

What items do you feel are absolute necessities when starting a Legacy Challenge?

Hello everyone! I have decided to start up a new House Build series that focuses on building and designing houses around various stages of the Legacy Challenge (beginning, middle, and end). I thought it would be nice to supply a bunch of pre-built houses for those of you who enjoy the Legacy Challenge, but don’t necessarily enjoy building. I’ll be making starter houses, mid-range houses (for when your Sims have money to afford more stuff), and also a few mansions. I’ll also be making sure to include houses that will help your Sims finish off their aspirations.

I’m currently in the process of building some starter houses and I’m wondering… what items do you consider absolute necessities (items your Sims can’t live without) at the very beginning of the challenge? I want to make sure to include as many necessities in the starter house as possible! I will not be using items from any packs (just the base game), at least for starter houses (I will for houses that help meet certain aspirations later on though).

Let me know in the comments below what items you consider necessities! This will really help me decide what to put into the starter houses as money is extremely limited!

The Legacy Challenge Rules have been updated to include all current packs!

Hi everyone! As promised, Pinstar and I looked through the Legacy Challenge rules and updated/added/changed a few things to reflect changes and additions in the current packs. We didn’t make any MAJOR changes to the challenge but here is a list of the things updated:

  • We reworded the Parenthood section of the Scoring page as it was causing some confusion in the way it was written previously.
  • We have changed the collections part of the Nature section of the scoring page to say 13 out of 26 possible collections. You will not need to collect everything in all 26 categories. Just 13 (which was the original number). 13 will continue to be the set number for collections regardless of how many new collections are added to the game.
  • We have updated the Popularity section of the Scoring page to include toddler playdates if you have the Toddler Stuff Pack
  • We will not be updating the rules to include adopting or breeding pets as they take up a slot that will otherwise be used by a Legacy Sim.
  • Gameplay Rules have had a few minor tweaks and additions
  • The Fortune section of the Scoring page was updated to include veterinary clinic funds in the total household net worth (just like family owned businesses would be)
  • The FAQ has been updated to include the question about pets since that is a common question we are asked.
  • The Random Trait Generators were updated on Thursday to include the new aspirations from Jungle Adventure Pack

If you have any questions about these updates/changes please let us know in the comments below!

Random Trait Generator Updated for The Sims 4 Jungle Adventure Pack

With the release of The Sims 4 Jungle Adventure Game Pack yesterday, we have updated our Random Trait Generators to include the two new aspirations added in this pack. The new aspirations are Jungle Explorer and Archaeology Scholar.

Along with the updates to the trait generator, Pinstar and I will be sitting down and figuring out what changes and updates we need to make to the Legacy Challenge with the addition of a few of these new packs (including Cats & Dogs). We are going to try and has this out this upcoming weekend and will be making updates as needed. I’ll keep you posted on any updates and changes that we make.

Is there anything specific that you’d like to see changed or updated? Let us know in the comments below and we’ll discuss it!

Decision Regarding Retreaux & Novella Stories!

Hi everyone! I know I said that I was going to wait until Friday to make a decision about this, but after looking at the poll results and doing some thinking about it on my own, I have made a decision about whether or not I am going to move the Retreaux and Novella stories over to my Youtube channel as Let’s Plays.

I was surprised at how many people actually wanted them to remain as written stories. Out of the 48 votes, 33% of you requested that they stay stories. While this isn’t the overwhelming majority, it was enough of you to make me think that maybe I shouldn’t move them both.

So instead I thought I’d come to a compromise and hopefully make everyone happy. The Retreaux Legacy will remain a written story. I prefer Sims 2 playthroughs as written stories. I love writing them and it kind of brings back some nostalgia for the old Sims 2 BBS days. So Retreaux will NOT be moving to Youtube.

However, I DO prefer doing Let’s Plays of Sims 4 playthroughs over writing them and to be honest, the Novella story was never very popular as a written series (at least compared to the Retreaux Legacy). The Movin’ On Up Challenge also seems to do better on Youtube than it does as a written story (at least in my opinion). So the Novella story will be discontinued here and restarted as a Let’s Play series on Youtube.

From now on, I think that is how I am going to work things. All Sims 2 challenges will be written stories here on the site, and all Sims 4 challenges will be Youtube Let’s Plays. I’m currently unsure whether or not I will do any Sims 3 challenge playthroughs. The game always tends to bug out for me.

I hope this works for all of you!

Stories vs Let’s Plays – Help Me Decide!

Hi everyone! I’m getting ready to come back from my 2 week long break and get back into the swing of things here and on Youtube. I have a question for all of you that have been reading the Retreaux Legacy and the Novella Movin’ On Up Challenge, however.

I’ve been considering moving these both over to my Youtube channel as a Let’s Play, but I am not sure if I want to or if I will be making it difficult for some of you to keep up with them if they move there. If they move to Youtube, I will be picking the stories up exactly where they left off. I will not be restarting them. The chapters that have already been written will stay on the website for everyone to read if they need to catch up.

I have created a poll and would appreciate it if you all could answer whether you prefer them as written stories or Youtube Let’s Plays. I’ll keep the poll up until next Friday, September 8th.

Thanks!
