A Springboard For Another Challenge?

Sims 4 Apocalypse ChallengeIt is no secret that when I made the Wonder Child challenge, I had the Apocalypse Challenge in mind already. In the original Apocalypse Challenge, you began with a new Young Adult sim in College who was able to spend their time there restriction-free and thus be built up before having to brave the harshness of life in an Apocalypse Challenge.

The Sims 4 didn’t have that sort of mechanic yet. Oh sure, you could just download a sim off the exchange but you would want a sim that was built from the ground up to have as many skill points and traits as possible to maximize the benefit you received from them starting your Apocalypse Challenge.

So now, thanks to the Wonder Child Challenge, we have a healthy crop of brilliant young adults out there, waiting to brave the end of the world.

What if… What if we used them for something else? I’m toying with the notion that the Wonder Child challenge could lead into a business-based challenge where the wonder child is the entrepreneur. Thus they could potentially use some of their starting skills and traits to gain an edge in the business world.

Now I don’t know ALL the details of Get to Work (Sadly I was not invited to Creator’s Camp for this pack, and thus don’t have any early hands-on experience with the game). I can tell you that it will be more than just “Reach a max level business.”

What do you think about having your Wonder Child start a business? Do you think it would add to, or take away from a Business based challenge? Let me know your thoughts!

I LOVE the idea of starting with an already skilled Sim. The fresh ‘inexperienced’ Sim fresh from CAS is the basis for the majority of most Sim challenges. But by the time I get my perfectly crafted Sim to the level where I can just play they are well beyond their prime. It would be great to be able to put some of my favorite Sim to work on a new task knowing they can reap all the rewards of ‘their’ hard work. 🙂

I love this idea! What a good way to use a Sim we have taken the time to make outstanding! Brilliant imho.
So much so, that I shared it to my tumblr page. It’s the very first personal post I’ve ever made on that blog.
I’ll be watching to see how this comes along.
As always, thanks for all the hard work you and your lovely wife do for the gaming community.
Blessed be…

Sure I am game. I would be doing this anyway, as one version of playing the new expansion. I will also be going the route of fresh unskilled sims as I am a great lover of diversity in life and in sims.
The idea of doing this with a bit of added challenge, ideas and group involvement is even better.

I love the idea. I really enjoyed shaping Alexander not only for a high score in the Wonder Child Challenge (648 points) but as my perfect Apocalypse founder. It is nice to have it as a unified story even if I’m not sure if anyone but my sister is reading. I was thinking I’d like to do it again once I get Outdoor Retreat and Get to Work. This would be the perfect opportunity.

I was looking forward to starting an Apocalypse Challenge with my Wonder Child once the new expansion had been worked in. However, a Business based challenge sounds pretty fun, as long as it’s a bit “meaty,” like the Legacy and Apocalypse challenges. Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

I honestly think using a Wonder Child as the entrepreneur would take away more to that kind of challenge than it would add to it.
Personally, in a challenge (especially in Get To Work) I like having to start from the ground with no money and no skills. It lets you see afterwards everything you built up from the ground so that starting out with a highly skilled genius would take away from that feeling and gameplay of the achievement at the end of the challenge quite a bit.
Maybe it is a different thing for people having played the Wonder Child Challenge themselves and starting out with sims that they played with but I wouldn’t want to have to download a skilled sim from the gallery just to make the challenge easier.
All in all, I would say either let us start out with a completely new sim without skills or make a ‘you decide’ thing where there are different options for different types of players like you did with your TS4 Legacy Challenge (which was so awesome and highly appreciated by all of us) 😀

Perhaps you could update the Build A City Challenge (designed to highlight Open For Business) rules for Sims 4 Get To Work. Wonder Children would be great founders or even good for additional CAS when you earn them.

The Build a City Challenge isn’t one of Pinstar’s challenges, he wouldn’t feel right updating someone else’s challenges.

Your links to the challenge require people to login into WP’s admin back channel. You might want to fix that just fyi. 😛

Fixed, thanks!
