The Legacy Challenge Rules Have Been Updated for Seasons!

Hello everyone! We hope you all are having a great weekend. Pinstar and I were able to get the rules updated for the Legacy Challenge for Seasons a lot sooner than we thought we’d be able to!

Everything has been updated at this point. We have made changes to the following aspects of the challenge:

If you have any questions please let us know in the comments below!

I just want to say how great you guys are 😍. Thank you for maintaining the legacy challenge, and others. I’ve finished the legacy challenge (full points!) and the apocalypse challenge, and most of the smaller ones, and your efforts have given me literally hours of enjoyment. You are so appreciated!!!

I forgot to say that the new traditions points sound *perfect.* That’s going to be an awesome way to include Seasons in the legacy challenge.

Wow! Great update!
Although I’ve yet to complete a Legacy Challenge, I agree with Erin’s top comment.
I really like the addition of Holidays to the challenge!
I cannot wait to start a new Legacy Household. Hopefully she won’t freeze before the first walls are built!

Oh no, I started a new legacy as soon as Seasons came out and went for an extreme start but now that point isn’t valid anymore because I started in Spring. Plus I had already made a holiday to commemorate the anniversary of the legacy start but I’ve messed that up with too many traditions as well. I’m so disheartened now, I was really liking how the legacy was going. Good changes though, I just wish I’d known about them sooner.

Don’t worry about the winter start. If you started your challenge before the rules were posted your point is still valid.

As for the traditions, just delete the extra ones that you added and you can add new ones later.

So . . . my sims were celebrating Winterfest and my founder no joke just got the 2,000 simoleon karaoke machine from one of the presents. O_o Is it ok to sell that? Or is that cheating? Should I delete it and remove the simoleons from the family funds after?

LOL I was trying to figure this out too when Father Winter gave me the oven. I figured it’s going to work like when you moved in a Sim in the Sims 2 and they brought that super expensive spinning dance machine with them. You can sell it and use the money if you wish. Or you can use the money cheat to go back to however much money you had before Winterfest.

Or, in the tradition of Christmas gifts that are unwanted, you could re-gift it to someone not living on the lot.

Are we allowed to purchase the money tree? And are we to include the re-traiting potion in the consumable rewards (collection)? Thanks 🙂

I’ll have to ask Pinstar about the money tree, but since we were able to use it in Sims 2 it should be ok to use in TS4 as well.

As for the re-traiting potion, you can find the rules for that in the gameplay section of the rules. Here is what it says:

“You may purchase and use the trait re-arranger potion. However, you must roll for new traits.”

Thanks for the quick reply!

With the re-traiting potion what I meant was do you need it for the ‘Collect and store all consumable aspiration rewards’ part of the nature points? So basically I’m not interested in using it, but should I get it for the nature point?

Also, can we buy lottery tickets when the even comes round?

Hello. I had a question RE: season length. Prior to the update, I had my seasons set for 14 Sim days each… and I hadn’t seen mention of any rules regarding that… I guess I probably would assume that we’ll need to keep them at 7 days each, but I really just wanted to make sure…

Can we change the duration of the Seasons, or do they need to remain at the seven day mark?

Thank you so much for your time!

How does the re-training position work with the love points? Do we use the original ones that the primary spouse came in with, or the ones after we re-roll?

Here is Pinstar’s response. I’ll update the rules accordingly.

I’d say the ones after the re-roll. So if you found a great looking spouse with traits you’ve already had with previous spouses, you can try to gamble for new ones.

This also applies to traits when rolling random traits for newborns. Whatever that sims traits are *at the time* use those for each roll, So if a parent swaps out their traits before their child becomes a teenager, use their new traits when rolling the teenager’s 3rd trait.

Does the re-training potion now count towards the consumable rewards collection or is the potion of youth the most expensive one needed?

And what about season length? Seven days is not very long imo

Is there a length requirement for seasons?

And does the re-training potion count towards the consumable rewards collection? It costs 5000 points so it’s more expensive even than the potion of youth!

Reposting my question here, because I figured it would be more appropriate.

Out of curiosity, what’s the rule regarding the lottery holiday that’s now available? I figured the chances of winning were slim, so I bought the ticket from my founder for 100 simoleans, and well, she won 1,000,000 simoleans lol. So, I’m trying to figure out if this is against the rules or not before I play her further.

Hmm… let me check with Pinstar about this as I’m not certain. Neither of us even knew that a lottery holiday existed (I haven’t gotten to it in my playthrough yet). I’ll let you know what he says!

Awesome, thanks! I know it’s a random holiday that pops up from time to time. But, according to my friend I must have gotten really lucky because she had 6 sims in her house buy a lottery ticket and none of them won anything at all.

Pinstar’s response:

“Knowing the Sims, they don’t make the lotto have as bad as the odds of a RL lotto. I’m gonna ban it for its ability to RNG nuke all the financial parts of the challenge.”

So yeah, no lottery for Legacy Sims. I’ll update the rules later today!

@Mystic Currently, I’ve got my seasons set to 14 days. Is this ok? They just end so quickly otherwise, and I like planning holidays.

Pinstar says that this is ok!
